The El-Dorado Topaz, owned by the Programa Royal Collections based in Madrid, Spain, weighed a massive 37 kg when first unearthed in 1984, in Minas Gerais, Brazil. When the rough stone was eventually cut and processed into a perfect emerald-cut, exceptional quality gemstone, with good clarity and transparency and a breathtaking yellowish-brown color, it weighed only 6.2 kg, equivalent to 31,000 carats, but still qualifying to become the largest faceted topaz in the world in terms of carat weight. The second largest faceted topaz in the world, is the 25,250-carat, octagonal-cut, grey-colored "Lua de Maraba" topaz, with dimensions of 18 x 15 x10 cm (7.1 x 5.9 x 3.9 in) and also owned by Programa Royal Collections. The 3rd largest faceted topaz in the world, is the 22,892.5-carat, cushion-cut, yellowish-brown "American Golden Topaz" with dimensions of 17.53 x 14.94 x 9.34 cm (6.9 x 5.9 x 3.7 in), owned by Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C.
The dimensions of the 31,000-carat El-Dorado topaz are not known, and not given even in the Programa Royal Collections website. However, comparison with the dimensions of the 2nd and 3rd largest faceted topazes in the world, might give an approximate value for the dimensions of the El-Dorado Topaz, given the fact that the relative density/specific gravity of topaz remains constant within the range of 3.4 to 3.6. An approximation of 20-22 cm x 16-17 cm x 10-12 cm might not be too far from the actual dimensions of the enormous topaz.
The following thumbnails represent respectively :-
1) The 31,000-carat El-Doraado Topaz.
2) The 25,250-carat Lua de Maraba Topaz.
3) The 22,892.5-carat American Golden Topaz

Topaz diamond shade really excellent and topaz is one of the favored gems by jewelers and the public alike. Like other gemstones, its popularity can be attributed to its colors, and the orange yellow type or imperial topaz is the most precious and most expensive form of topaz. Also the pink varieties are the most commonly sought after in the industry. It is also acknowledged as the birthstone for november. This gem can be found in the countries of pakistan, japan, sweden, mexico, afghanistan, and brazil as well as in the us.

Two latest images of the El-Dorado Topaz from the website of the Programa Royal Collections (PRC), I am sure would provide a better perspective on the size and enormity of the world's largest faceted topaz.
